Sodium Perborate
NaBO₃·H₂O | CAS: 10332-33-9 | HS: 28401100
Product Description
Sodium Perborate is an oxygen bleach precursor that releases hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution — formerly the dominant oxygen bleach in European powder detergents, now increasingly being replaced by the more soluble sodium percarbonate in cold-wash formulations. The monohydrate form provides higher available oxygen content than the tetrahydrate and remains preferred where anhydrous detergent conditions require stability without moisture activation. It is also used as a mild antiseptic in tooth whitening and oral hygiene products, and as a textile bleaching auxiliary. MITCHEM supplies both hydrate forms with full quality documentation.
Applications by Industry
Oxygen bleach active in powder detergents effective at 60°C+ wash temperatures; increasingly complemented or replaced by sodium percarbonate+TAED for cold-wash performance.
Used as a mild peroxide source in tooth whitening gels, whitening toothpastes, and antiseptic oral hygiene products due to its controlled H₂O₂ release and antimicrobial action.
Applied as a mild bleaching and stain-removal auxiliary in textile finishing, particularly for delicate fabrics requiring controlled oxidative bleaching.
Used in disinfectant formulations for wound care, veterinary hygiene, and surface disinfection where a slow-release peroxide source is preferred.
