SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulphate)
CH₃(CH₂)₁₁(OC₂H₄)ₙOSO₃Na | CAS: 68585-34-2 | HS: 34021300
Product Description
Sodium Laureth Sulphate is the highest-volume surfactant in personal care — the primary foaming and cleansing agent in shampoos, shower gels, bubble bath, and facial cleansers globally. Its ethoxylation distinguishes it from SLS: the ethylene oxide chains impart mildness, improved skin compatibility, and better tolerance in hard water, making SLES the preferred surfactant for leave-on, rinse-off, and sensitive skin personal care formulations. MITCHEM supplies both the concentrated 70% paste and the standard 28% liquid forms for personal care and household product manufacturers.
Applications by Industry
Primary foaming surfactant in shampoo formulations; produces abundant, stable foam with good rinsability and acceptable skin/scalp irritation profile.
The backbone surfactant in body wash and shower gel formulations; its mildness relative to SLS enables daily-use personal care product formulation.
Used as the primary or co-surfactant in liquid hand soaps, bubble bath, and bath foam formulations requiring high, stable foam.
Component in dishwashing liquids and multi-surface cleaners where foaming, grease-cutting, and biodegradability are required.
