Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP)
NH₄H₂PO₄ | CAS: 7722-76-1 | HS: 31054000
Product Description
Monoammonium Phosphate is the highest-phosphate-analysis solid fertiliser commercially produced (12% N, 61% P₂O₅ in 12-61-0 grade) — the preferred starter phosphate for seed-furrow application and side-dressing where phosphorus placement efficiency is critical. Its acidic pH in soil solution improves phosphate solubility in calcareous soils, enhancing availability to plant roots. In fire protection, ammonium phosphate (MAP/DAP) is the active ingredient in ABC dry chemical extinguishers. MITCHEM exports agricultural and technical grades.
Applications by Industry
High-analysis phosphate fertiliser applied in the seed furrow or as a starter band at planting; the acidic pH improves P solubility in alkaline soils and provides phosphorus for rapid root development.
Fully water-soluble grade used in drip and sprinkler fertigation systems for vegetable and fruit crops requiring precise phosphorus and nitrogen delivery with irrigation water.
Mixed with other ammonium phosphate salts and additives as the active dry chemical in ABC class fire extinguishers — the dominant fire suppression agent for Class A, B, and C fires.
Used as a yeast nutrient in fermentation, leavening agent, and pH regulator in food applications including baked goods and fermented food products.
