Dense Soda Ash
Na₂CO₃ | CAS: 497-19-8 | HS: 28362000
Product Description
Dense Soda Ash is the granular, high-bulk-density form of sodium carbonate — the preferred grade for glass manufacturing batch plants, where its high particle density reduces dust, improves batch homogeneity, and minimises raw material loss during pneumatic conveying. The granular form also reduces caking during storage and improves handling in high-volume industrial operations. MITCHEM supplies dense soda ash primarily to glass plants, industrial chemical processors, and bulk chemical distributors.
Applications by Industry
The standard form used in flat glass, container glass, and specialty glass batch plants; high bulk density reduces dust and segregation during pneumatic transfer and batch mixing.
Reacts with silica sand at high temperature to produce sodium silicate (waterglass), a feedstock for detergents, paper, and specialty coatings.
Used as a base and neutralising agent in large-scale chemical manufacturing where granular handling is preferred over powder; reduced dust improves worker safety.
Used in the kraft pulping process as a make-up chemical for sodium losses in the recovery cycle, and in certain paper coating and sizing formulations.
