Calcium Carbonate
CaCO₃ | CAS: 471-34-1 | HS: 28365000
Product Description
Calcium Carbonate is one of the highest-volume industrial minerals globally, serving as a filler, extender, and active ingredient across plastics, paints, paper, food, pharmaceuticals, and construction. Ground calcium carbonate (GCC) and precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) serve different performance tiers — PCC offers tighter particle size control, higher brightness, and modified surface morphology for premium applications. MITCHEM supplies both forms with appropriate certifications for export to plastics compounders, coatings manufacturers, food processors, and pharmaceutical formulators.
Applications by Industry
The world's most widely used mineral filler in PVC, polyolefins, and rubber; improves rigidity, reduces cost, and provides whiteness and opacity in cable compounds, pipes, and profiles.
Used as a white extender pigment in interior and exterior decorative paints; provides body, hiding power, and improved scrub resistance at economical cost.
PCC is the premium paper filler in alkaline papermaking — improving paper brightness, opacity, and printability while reducing fibre costs.
Food-grade CaCO₃ is used as a calcium supplement in food fortification, as an antacid active ingredient, and as a food additive (E170) in confectionery and bakery.
