Ammonium Chloride
NH₄Cl | CAS: 12125-02-9 | HS: 28273000
Product Description
Ammonium Chloride is a versatile inorganic salt produced as a by-product of the Solvay process and used across agriculture, metallurgy, food, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. As a nitrogen fertiliser it provides quick-release ammonium-nitrogen for paddy rice and other crops that benefit from ammoniacal nitrogen. In metallurgy it is an essential flux for hot-dip galvanising, tin plating, and soldering — cleaning oxide layers from metal surfaces to ensure wetting by molten solder or zinc. MITCHEM supplies multiple grades from technical to pharma with appropriate regulatory documentation.
Applications by Industry
Applied as a fast-release ammoniacal nitrogen source in paddy rice cultivation, vegetable farming, and as a component in compound fertiliser formulations — particularly effective in alkaline soils.
Used as a flux in hot-dip galvanising and tinplating baths — reacts with surface oxides on steel, cleaning and activating the surface for uniform zinc or tin coating adhesion.
Component in soldering fluxes for electronics assembly and plumbing — dissolves surface oxides at soldering temperatures to ensure clean, void-free solder joints.
Used as an expectorant active ingredient in cough medicines (stimulates mucus secretion), and as an acidifying agent in parenteral nutrition and urine acidification therapy.
