Sulphamic Acid
H₃NSO₃ | CAS: 5329-14-6 | HS: 28273990
Product Description
Sulphamic Acid is a dry, solid strong acid that offers a safe, convenient, and highly effective alternative to liquid mineral acids for descaling, cleaning, and metal surface treatment. Its solid form eliminates the fuming and spill hazards of hydrochloric and sulphuric acids, making it preferred for descaling boilers, heat exchangers, cooling systems, and food processing equipment where liquid acid handling is impractical. It dissolves calcium carbonate scale, rust, and mineral deposits quickly and forms stable, soluble metal sulphamates. MITCHEM supplies technical and industrial grades with full documentation.
Applications by Industry
Applied as a safe, solid descaling agent for removing calcium carbonate scale from boilers, heat exchangers, condensers, and cooling coils — effective, non-fuming alternative to HCl for manual and CIP descaling.
Used as a safer granular acid for reducing pH in swimming pool water; easy to measure, handle, and dissolve without the fuming hazards of liquid acids.
Dissolves rust, scale, and metal oxide deposits from ferrous and non-ferrous metals; used in metal cleaning preparations, rust removers, and surface preparation before plating.
Used in azo dye synthesis to destroy excess nitrous acid after diazotisation, preventing unwanted side reactions; also a feedstock for sulphamate salts.
