Paraffin Wax
CₙH₂ₙ₊₂ | CAS: 8002-74-2 | HS: 27122000
Product Description
Paraffin Wax is a petroleum-derived saturated hydrocarbon wax — the highest-volume wax product globally, consumed across candle manufacturing, packaging coatings, rubber processing, food processing, cosmetics, and industrial applications. Fully refined grades (≤0.5% oil content, water white) are used in food packaging and cosmetics; semi-refined grades are standard for industrial applications. MITCHEM supplies both fully and semi-refined grades in slabs, pellets, and liquid form for candle makers, rubber processors, coatings manufacturers, and food packaging producers with full specifications.
Applications by Industry
The primary base wax for pillar, votive, container, and taper candles — provides burn properties, opacity, and fragrance retention; blended with stearic acid for opacity and hardness.
Applied as a bloom-inducing protective wax in rubber compounding — migrates to the surface of tyre and rubber goods to form an ozone-protective microcrystalline layer.
Applied as a moisture-barrier coating on corrugated boxes, cups, and food cartons; food-grade paraffin wax (E905) is also used as a fruit coating for post-harvest preservation.
Used in textile waterproofing, leather finishing, match manufacturing, and industrial rust prevention coatings; provides hydrophobic barrier and release properties.
