Lithium Stearate
LiC₁₇H₃₅O₂ | CAS: 4485-12-5 | HS: 29157090
Product Description
Lithium Stearate is the precursor metallic soap used in producing lithium grease — the world's dominant lubricating grease type (over 70% of global grease consumption). Lithium soap-thickened greases offer a versatile combination of high dropping point (~185°C), mechanical stability, water resistance, and compatibility with a wide range of base oils and additives. Lithium stearate and lithium 12-hydroxystearate form the soap matrix in lithium and lithium complex greases used in automotive bearings, industrial machinery, and general lubrication. MITCHEM supplies grease-grade lithium stearate to lubricant manufacturers.
Applications by Industry
Core soap thickener for producing NLGI 1–3 lithium greases for automotive wheel bearings, chassis points, universal joints, and general industrial bearing lubrication.
Lithium and lithium complex soap thickeners produce greases with dropping points exceeding 185°C (simple) and 260°C+ (complex), suitable for high-temperature bearing and industrial applications.
Lithium soap grease is the standard multipurpose industrial grease for electric motor bearings, conveyor bearings, gear boxes, and general plant maintenance lubrication.
Used in formulating specialty lithium complex, lithium-calcium, and lithium-clay grease blends with enhanced performance properties for demanding industrial and automotive applications.
