Lithium Silicate
Li₂SiO₃ | CAS: 10102-24-6 | HS: 28392000
Product Description
Lithium Silicate solution is a powerful concrete densifier and surface hardener — when applied to concrete floors, it penetrates the pore structure and reacts with calcium hydroxide to form insoluble calcium silicate hydrate, dramatically increasing surface hardness, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance. This application has driven significant demand growth in industrial flooring, warehouse, and logistics facility construction. Lithium silicate is also used in refractory coatings, welding electrode coatings, and as a binder in high-temperature applications. MITCHEM supplies both solution and powder forms with technical data sheets for each grade.
Applications by Industry
Lithium silicate penetrating sealer reacts with concrete to form additional calcium silicate hydrate, increasing surface hardness by 40–60% and providing dust-proof, abrasion-resistant industrial floors.
Used as a binder in refractory coatings, ceramic fibre blanket coatings, and high-temperature insulation systems requiring alkali silicate binders stable above 1000°C.
Component in welding rod and electrode flux coatings, providing silicate binder function and influencing weld bead characteristics and slag removal.
Used in specialty glass-ceramic formulations and as a surface flux in ceramics; lithium silicate glass-ceramics have excellent thermal shock resistance.
Component in two-component inorganic zinc-silicate primers for heavy-duty corrosion protection in offshore, marine, and industrial environments.
