Lithium Chloride
LiCl | CAS: 7447-41-8 | HS: 28273990
Product Description
Lithium Chloride is one of the most hygroscopic of all inorganic salts — a property that drives its use as an industrial desiccant and in air dehumidification systems. In metallurgy, it is a key flux component in brazing aluminium and aluminium alloys, lowering the melting point of the flux system and improving wetting on aluminium surfaces. In battery technology, LiCl is used in electrolyte formulations for primary lithium batteries and as a reagent in lithium salt synthesis. MITCHEM supplies consistent quality with full hazardous materials documentation for international export.
Applications by Industry
Highly hygroscopic LiCl solution is used in liquid desiccant systems for controlling humidity in pharmaceutical clean rooms, cold storage facilities, and lithium battery manufacturing environments.
Key component in fluxes for torch and furnace brazing of aluminium and aluminium alloys; reduces oxide layer and improves filler metal flow at joint interfaces.
Used in electrolyte formulations for LiSOCl₂ and other primary lithium battery chemistries for military, industrial, and high-temperature applications.
Used in Staudinger reactions, cross-coupling reactions, and as a solubility-enhancing additive in peptide synthesis using DMF solvent systems.
Used in humidity calibration standards and saturated salt solutions providing precise relative humidity reference points for hygrometer calibration.
