Product Description
EBS Wax (Ethylene Bis Stearamide, Stearamide Wax, N,N'-Ethylenedistearylamide) is a synthetic amide wax that functions as both an internal and external lubricant in polymer processing, and as a pigment dispersant and surface modifier across a wide range of plastic, rubber, and coating applications. Unlike hydrocarbon waxes, the amide structure of EBS gives it excellent compatibility with polar polymers (PVC, polyamide, polyesters) and superior thermal stability up to 145°C melting with no decomposition below 250°C. In PVC processing, EBS reduces melt viscosity and prevents plate-out. In polyolefin films, it acts as a slip and anti-blocking agent. In pigment masterbatches, it is the preferred wax dispersant for organic pigments due to its polar amide group that interacts with pigment surfaces. MITCHEM supplies food-contact compliant EBS in bead and powder forms.
Applications by Industry
Dual-function lubricant in PVC pipe, profile, and film extrusion; internal lubrication reduces melt viscosity and fusion time, while external lubrication prevents melt sticking to metal surfaces.
Preferred wax dispersant for organic pigments (phthalocyanines, quinacridones, perylenes) in colour masterbatches; the amide group adsorbs onto pigment surfaces to improve wetting and dispersion.
Migrates to the surface of polyolefin films to provide slip (low coefficient of friction) and anti-blocking properties; enables high-speed packaging film operations and automatic form-fill-seal lines.
Internal mould release and anti-tack agent in rubber compounds; prevents rubber adhesion to mould surfaces and calendering rolls, improving surface quality of rubber products.
